A Rapid Thermal Analysis Approach for Power Module Design Considering Non-Linear Thermal Conductivity

The evaluation and analysis of the thermal characteristics of power modules is a crucial aspect of power module design. However, as the operating temperature of the module increases, thermal conductivity cannot be considered a constant. Its thermal analysis becomes a non-linear problem, rendering the existing approaches ineffective in accurately calculating the thermal characteristics of power modules. This constrains the design and application of power modules. Therefore, this paper proposed a rapid thermal analysis approach based on the Kirchhoff transform for evaluating the steady-state temperature distribution of power modules, taking into account thermal conductivity nonlinearity. This approach is capable of calculating results when thermal conductivity is nonlinear, based on the results of constant thermal conductivity. Its accuracy is verified by simulation. The error is reduced to half of its original value. Furthermore, the computation is completed in less than O. Ss. The proposed approach has the potential to widen the temperature range of power module design and is of considerable significance.
