Design, Simulation and Analysis of a MIM Plasmonic Sensor Based on the Cross-Shaped Resonator

This study introduces a tunable plasmonic sensor. This sensor is built using metal-insulator-metal waveguides and its performance is analyzed, applying the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) approach. The sensor structure consists of a cross-shaped resonator with three stubs. The suggested sensor is a proper candidate for biosensor applications. It has a high refractive index sensitivity of 1390 nm/RIU and a great figure of merit of 61.72 RIU−1. Compared to other works reported in this literature, many of these values are the highest.
