DUALIST : Dynamic Unified Active-Load Integration Strategy for SDN Controllers

The evolution of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) has been pivotal in addressing the complexities of modern network management. The traditional centralized control model, while effective, poses limitations in scalability and resilience. This paper introduces the DUALIST framework, an advanced SDN architecture that utilizes an active-active controller configuration to enhance network performance. The framework aims to optimize throughput, resource utilization, latency, fault tolerance, and load balancing. DUALIST was rigorously evaluated against standard single-controller SDN models through comprehensive testing. Metrics such as throughput, resource utilization, latency, and failover times were measured under various network conditions to assess performance. The framework consistently demonstrated higher throughput and lower latency, coupled with improved resource utilization. It exhibited rapid failover capability with an average recovery time of 0.67 seconds, and efficient load distribution, confirming its effectiveness in managing network load dynamics. DUALIST surpasses traditional SDN architectures in critical performance areas, affirming its potential as a scalable and resilient solution. Its ability to efficiently manage and adapt to changing network conditions makes it an excellent candidate for future-proofing complex network infrastructures.
