Adaptive Power Coordination Control for Electrolysis Hydrogen Directly Driven by Wind Turbines

Electrolysis hydrogen has become a promising way to consume wind power. However, the coordination between wind turbines and electrolyzers meets great challenge. To fill in this gap, this article proposes an adaptive power coordination control method for the wind-hydrogen coupled system. First, a dynamic voltage-speed droop control method is devised for the wind turbine, enabling seamless regulation of the output power in either maximum power mode or power limit mode based on the dc bus voltage. Second, an adaptive current control scheme is employed for the electrolyzer, utilizing the dc bus voltage signal and considering the restricted allowable current value. By utilizing the dc bus voltage level as an information carrier, the wind-hydrogen adaptive power coordination control method can be implemented using the above two control strategies. Last, all the findings have been verified through a commercial proton exchange membrane electrolyzer driven by a wind turbine simulator system.
