Development of a New Dual Channel GPR for Deep Detection

Ground penetrating radar (GPR), as an efficient and non-destructive detection method, has been widely used in the field of engineering geological detection. In this article, a GPR for geological ultra-deep detection is introduced. Compared with current systems, several methods are adopted to improve the performance of the radar. In order to verify the performance of the system, data acquisition verification experiments based on sine wave and radar wave is designed, and a field detection experiment of the dam is carried out. The results show that the system can effectively collect deep signals. The relative error rates of the designed ADC high-precision acquisition circuit are 1% and 1.2%, respectively, which are reduced by 23.4% and 22% compared with the current system. At the same time, an experiment based on radar wave data acquisition is designed. The mean square error value of the radar wave deep signal voltage collected is 47.6 mV, which is $3.2\times $ lower than that of the existing system. In addition, the developed ultra-deep GPR antenna with shielding function can detect up to 40 m in engineering geological detection.
