Hand Gesture-Driven Assistive Bed Position Control System and Health Monitoring for Enhanced Patient Comfort and Accessibility

In recent years, with contemporary societal and financial challenges on the rise, there is a decreased availability of time to care for elderly or disabled individuals. Continuous monitoring of these patients may indicate the need for a fulltime caretaker. This focuses on the development of gesture-controlled bed system for improved patient care and comfort. However, the feasibility of such continuous care can be limited by various factors, including social and financial constraints. The developed system is integrated with the pulse sensor and temperature sensors acknowledging for continuous monitoring of vital signs. The bed movements are controlled through hand gestures providing patients with greater independence and ease of use. For instance, gesture one prompts the bed to incline to 90 degrees, while gesture two, three and four correspond to angles of 150.120 and 180 degrees. Additionally, the system displays health monitoring parameters such as heart rate and body temperature. The switching systems in this play a crucial role in enhancing safety measures. Overall, this technology represents a significant advancement in patient-centric care, aiming to enhance both comfort and quality of life for individual requiring continuous monitoring and care.
