Stability Analysis of Four Switch Buck-Boost Converter Operating in Buck Mode by Lead Compensator

A novel topology in power electronics consists of the four-switch buck-boost converter, it incorporates the characteristics of buck and boost converters. The objective of this research is to illustrate its benefits, applications, operating principles, and stability analysis in buck mode. It efficiently regulates the output voltage irrespective of variations in the input with suitable switching control, meeting a variety of voltage demands. The buck operating modes are controlled by varying the patterns of change of the switches. To lower the output voltage during buck operation, two switches are triggered to lower the input voltage across the inductor. This converter's efficiency and adaptability are its primary benefits. This research mainly focuses on the output voltage stability concerning the input voltage variations. With the help of the lead compensator, the converter phase margin is increased from 13.6° to 54. 8 ° which makes the system more stable. Many different sectors employ the four-switch buck-boost converter for a variety of purposes. It can effectively control the power produced by renewable energy sources, such as wind turbines or solar panels, and adjusts to varying input voltages. Additionally, it is useful for portable devices, where voltage management and power efficiency are essential for optimum operation and longer battery life. This converter proves to be a flexible and effective way to handle different input voltages and serve a range of application areas.
