Analysis of Multistatic Sonobuoy Array Performance

This paper analyzes the influence of three typical array layouts, namely triangular, square, and circular arrays, on the detection area of a multistatic sonobuoy detection system by employing track-initiation probability as the target detection probability. Simulation results indicate that circular arrays exhibit a larger detection area and superior performance. Additionally, selecting appropriate array spacing such as 2.5R0 during deployment contributes to enhancing sonar performance. Moreover, the study reveals the presence of a scale effect in multistatic systems. In practical applications, considering the maneuverable and flexible construction of the multistatic sonobuoy detection system, the findings of this study can provide theoretical references for the design of sonobuoy layouts in anti-submarine warfare, thereby improving the detection performance of sonobuoys.
