A Memristive Neuromorphic Voltage-to-Frequency Mapping Oscillator for Automotive Applications

As driving safety is a top priority in today's world, there are significant efforts to reduce road accidents and injuries. Advanced technologies and real-time computing hardware are being explored to enhance safety and convenience for drivers and passengers. In this context, memristors have emerged as a promising candidate for the implementation of such hardware, offering unique features such as non-volatility and in-memory computing capabilities. Memristive oscillators have demonstrated applications in signal processing, unconventional computing paradigms, and bio-inspired systems. This paper focuses on the potential of Memristive Neuromorphic Voltage-Controlled Oscillators (MNVCOs) in distance detection systems within the automotive industry, thereby contributing to enhanced driving safety. This study presents a novel MNVCO design utilized for object avoidance. The proposed MNVCO circuit is fully analog and neuromorphic, enabling continuous voltage-to-frequency mapping to alert drivers when required. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed concept.
