Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring Using Raspberry Pi Pico

Gas detection is crucial for ensuring safety in various environments, such as homes, industries, and laboratories. This project presents a cost-effective and efficient gas detection system built around the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller, employing MQ4, MQ7, and MQ135 gas sensors. The system is designed to trigger an alert when gas levels exceed predefined safety limits. The system incorporates an audible and visual alert mechanism by using a buzzer and an LED. When any of the MQ4, MQ7, or MQ135 sensors detect the presence of hazardous gases surpassing the safety threshold, the buzzer emits a loud alarm, and an LED indicator blinks, providing a clear indication of the gas alarm. Furthermore, the project integrates IoT capabilities by employing a Node MCU as a Wi-Fi module. This allows the system to send real-time gas detection notifications to a user's smartphone or other connected devices via Telegram. When the system detects gas levels exceeding the defined limits, it sends an alert message to the user's Telegram account, enabling rapid response and immediate actions to mitigate potential dangers. The use of the Raspberry Pi Pico, in combination with the MQ-series sensors and IoT integration, offers a flexible and cost-effective solution for gas detection and safety monitoring in various settings. This system enhances safety by providing timely alerts and notifications, enabling users to respond swiftly to gas- related emergencies, ultimately preventing accidents and ensuring the well-being of individuals and the environment.
