Efficient Energy Management for Grid-Connected PV and EV Charging Stations with HES System Using Fuzzy Logic-Based MPPT Control

This study presents a Proportional-Integral control-based power-sharing method for optimally utilizing hybrid energy storage(HES) system in Fuzzy Logic Control-based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) systems at solar-powered Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. As renewable energy sources and energy storage systems merge, it becomes crucial to develop efficient power-sharing mechanisms to alleviate strain on the utility grid. The chosen Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) based MPPT method offers rapid adaptation to environmental changes and resilience against circuit parameter fluctuations. The focus lies in enhancing both short-term and long-term power efficiency by optimizing energy distribution across various sources. A hybrid energy storage system, driven by solar power, combines a battery and a supercapacitor that work in unison. These components manage transient and steady power demands, respectively. To ensure effective energy management, the battery's State of Charge (SOC) is monitored. Integrating a supercapacitor helps reduce stress on the battery system during sudden power fluctuations.
