Right-to-Left Multi-Core Multi-Modular Exponentiation For Authentication Protocols

Authenticating multiple nodes in a network is a crucial task. Multi-Modular Exponentiation(MME) is a significant step in most authentication protocols. The performance of authentication protocols can be improved by minimizing the clock-cycle consumption to evaluate MME. This article presents the novel right-to-left implementation of MME on multi-core processors. The inter-dependency between square and multiplication operations has been minimized by implementing MME using a novel right-to-left approach. The proposed modified Montgomery method avoids the trail divisions and makes our technique hardware implementable. Xilinx Vivado-21.2 on the VC707 evaluation board is used for FPGA Implementation. The results show that the proposed technique is reducing 49.98% of clock cycles from state-of-the-art.
