A Novel Interleaved Quadrature Boost Converter based Analysis of Grid-Tied BLDC Motor in EV Application

Power demand is increasing globally, necessitating the search for an alternate source to meet the emerging power crisis, which will likely be accomplished through grid-synchronized electric vehicles (EVs). Photovoltaic (PV) power generation has emerged as an appropriate substitute for conventional power generation systems due to its ease of maintenance, sustainability, minimal noise level, and accessibility. The output of the PV panel can be controlled using high-gain and highly effective DC-DC converters. In this paper, an interleaved quadrature Boost converter is utilized to increase the output voltage of a PV system while also providing adequate control for a BLDC motor with a safe and soft start. The Firefly-optimized PI controller methodology outperforms other methods over seamless BLDC motor operation. The PI controller-based PWM generator generates the gating pulses for the interleaved quadrature Boost converter. For speed regulation, the converter result is supplied to the BLDC motor via a three-phase inverter. The use of a Proportional Integral (PI) controller as well as a Firefly-optimized PI controller improves grid synchronization and motor speed regulation. Harmonics are eliminated using an LC filter, and grid synchronization is accomplished using a single-phase inverter. The proposed work is carried out using the MATLAB software, and the results are obtained.
