Design of Solar-Piezoelectric Hybrid Energy Harvesting System

The foot power of human being is generally waste power. The electricity can be generated by using this foot step power. Further, the use of renewable resources particularly by solar PV panels has been increasing in recent years. This is due to their easy availability and low cost. The proposed work showcases utilization of the kinetic energy from people walking on a footboard and solar energy. A PV solar panel is used to harness the solar power. The energy received from this PV panel is utilized to charge a battery. The power generated from the solar panel is detected through Atemga microcontroller and displayed on the LCD. Further, the power is generated by footsteps on a piezo footboard and displayed on the LCD. The display includes the footstep count and the voltage produced per footstep also. Thus, the proposed system facilitates the hybrid battery charging using both solar and footstep energies. Moreover, it enables accurate monitoring of power generated.
