The Evolution and History of E-learning: From 1840 to Present

E-learning, or distance learning, has been developed mainly to make education available at a distance to all those who cannot attend faceto-face classes, whether due to geographical distance, lack of financial means, or lack of time. Since the emergence of programming languages, several learning systems have been created. These systems are mainly designed to electronically automate educational processes. There are too many different terms used to indicate e-learning. In order to understand the evolution of this mode of distance learning, it is necessary to recall the main stages of its history through its key generations.
