Investigation of the Effect of Cavity Roughness on the Output Characteristics of Terahertz Gyrotrons

As a result of the conducted research, the dependence of frequency and Q-factor on the number of harmonics used for roughness modeling, which corresponds to its longitudinal size, was estimated. The percentage of profiles was found satisfying the range of diffraction Q-factor in which the output characteristics give an acceptable level of output in a model with a constant ohmic Q-factor. It is revealed that the optimal roughness size should be less than 0.4 micron to minimize possible changes in the design mode of gyrotron operation.
