Theory of capture of weakly magnetic particles in random matrices in the longitudinal configuration in HGMS

Particle capture in a matrix is considered, taking into account random orientation of the matrix fibers. Capture statistics are investigated for the case ofV_{m}/V_{o}\ll1and solutions are obtained for the mean capture radius. Finally, the results are used to calculate values of filter performanceN_{out}/N_{in}from single wire models and are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.
