Design of Broadband IC-Stripline Cells Based on Magnetic Absorbing Materials

With the rapid development of the integrated circuit (IC) industry, high-frequency circuits have been increasingly integrated into ICs. While this increases the operating frequency of ICs, it also brings serious electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) risks. In order to measure the IC’s radiation emission and immunity, the IC-Stripline cell is required. However, the commonly used IC-Stripline cell has an effective frequency range of 0–6 GHz. Based on the international EMC standards, in this work, we apply magnetic absorbing materials (MAM) to the IC-Stripline cell to expand its effective frequency range. We calculate the parameter range of MAM using a combination method of 3-D electromagnetic (EM) simulation and neural network fitting (NNF), which does not only ensure the accuracy of the calculation results but also shortens the simulation time. Our results show that the two selected embodiments have expanded the effective frequency ranges from 0 to 6 GHz, 0 to 9 GHz, and 0 to 10 GHz, respectively.
