Status of the European LCT coil

The status of the European coil for the Large Coil Task is described. The design of the coil is based on an extensive materials testing programme and on a thorough analysis of coil performance. Basic material data and design criteria are given. The presentation of results of the analysis is concentrated on structural analysis; some results of thermohydraulic analysis are reported. The final design is now being settled, major changes with respect to preliminary design are presented. The main facilities for coil fabrication were installed and tested. Prototypes of the major components were manufactured and tested. The production of the conductor is running. Manufacturing of the coil will be initiated about in June, 1981.
