Emotion Aligned Music Composition from Sound Fundamentals Using Differential Evolution

This development proposes and establishes a series of unique concepts and mechanisms for algorithmic composition of music. These include Differential Evolution (DE) as the Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) for synthesizing chromosomes that represent a musical creation, the mapping of musical compositions into these chromosomes using fundamental low-level frequency-amplitude-phase representation of sound, the target of musical creations as maximal alignment with universal and pristine specific human emotional states, and usage of Self Organizing Maps (SOM) as a Fitness Function and as a discriminator across emotional states to drive the evolution along targeted directions. First cut results are presented that serve to establish basic Proofs of Concept that envelope all the above mentioned novelties.
