RedCap Performance Analysis and Deployment Strategy Research

abstract-To meet the requirements of IoT applications for lower cost, lower power consumption, and lower complexity of 5G deployment, 3GPP proposes a type of 5G lightweight user terminal (RedCap UE). Firstly, the technical characteristics of RedCap were introduced. Then, an in-depth performance analysis was conducted on RedCap from the aspects of network coverage, RedCap capacity performance, RedCap latency performance, and the coexistence of RedCap and regular NR services. Finally, based on the performance analysis results, RedCap network deployment strategies were proposed, including RedCap network positioning, frequency deployment strategies, and BWP configuration strategies.
