Co-existence of 5G and Meteorological Satellite Systems Using ITU-R Interference Analysis

abstract-With the rapid development of 5G communication technology, the problem of spectrum coexistence with meteorological satellite operations has attracted wide attention. In this thesis, based on the ITU-R recommendations, the protection guidelines for GSO and NGSO meteorological satellite operations earth stations are discussed in detail, and the interference of 5 G terminals to meteorological satellite operations is analyzed. The maximum propagation loss required for inter-system coexistence was calculated using a deterministic calculation method. The results show that under certain distance and antenna parameter conditions, 5G and meteorological satellite services can realize effective coexistence. This study provides an important reference for 5G network planning and spectrum management.
