Building a Unified Healthcare Data System for the UAE: A Revolution in Data Management and Patient Care

In this paper, we address the inefficiency and lack of interoperability in UAE's healthcare information systems by proposing a unified Medical Data Connect (MDCS) system. This system centralizes patient data while eliminating the challenges related to fragmented healthcare data, such as redundant tests, delayed treatments, and communication issues, and providing a single source of truth for patient information. This includes medical history, allergies, medications, and test results, which will be accessible in real-time to authorized healthcare professionals. The MDCS is developed following an agile methodology and the system development lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on user requirements and stakeholder engagement. The system's benefits extend to patients, who will experience improved healthcare outcomes, convenience, and reduced costs, as well as to healthcare providers and government authorities, who will gain from increased efficiency and better-regulated services.
