Computer Vision Based Tree Stocking for Forest Conservation

Our method leverages YOLO V8, a cutting-edge object detection algorithm, with high-resolution photos taken by drones to give an affordable solution for tree identification and mapping. By using YOLO V8, the drawbacks of conventional approaches are overcome and real-time processing and effective tree counts are made possible. The extensive research made possible by the high-resolution drone photographs makes it easier to map the distribution of trees and identify species with accuracy. Additionally, by enhancing accessibility and affordability through the use of machine vision technologies in small-scale forest management, the advantages of advanced forestry methods become more widely available. This novel method not only increases the effectiveness of tree monitoring but also creates opportunities for larger-scale, sustainable, and scalable forest management techniques.
