The Impact of Social Media on Bipolar Disorder Patients

Social media platforms have become an intention for various people although they can be a double-edged sword, especially for people suffering from certain health disorders. Such platforms can provide support and an important source of useful information for people with disorders such as bipolar disorder, enabling them to communicate with their friends, families, and doctors. However, these platforms may also have other effects that may have undesirable consequences. This study aims to investigate the effect of social media usage on bipolar disorder patients. The quantitative approach was used to conduct this study, with a questionnaire used as the main tool to collect the required data. 200 questionnaires were distributed, 185 of which were returned, and 135 answers were valid for statistical analysis. The SPSS software was used to conduct the statistical analysis by using the descriptive analysis frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, and materiality. In addition, the Spearman Correlation Coefficient is used for hypothesis validation. By analyzing the results, encouraging findings have been reached that shed insight into social media's effect on bipolar disorder patients.
