Studies of single wire parallel stream type HGMS

The initial buildup process for three different paramagnetic particle slurries (Mn2P2O7, Mn2O3, and Cr2O3) on a single wire is studied for parallel stream type HGMS. It is found experimentally that the accumulation radius Raas a function of timetis expressed by the equationR_{a}^n} = At + 1. The exponentnand the coefficientAdepend on the slurry concentration as well as the magnetic field. The value ofnvaries from about 3 to 4. These results are shown to be consistent with a model which takes into account the drag coefficient for the wide range of Reynolds numbers encountered here.
