A Review on Medicinal Plant identification through Leaf Image

With a long history of successful healing interventions, the world’s first scientific medical system was Ayurveda, an ancient medical science from India. Ayurveda dates back to the Vedic period, more than $\mathbf{5 0 0 0}$ years ago. Indian System of Medicine is the name given to Ayurveda medicine in India. It is estimated that $\mathbf{8 0}$ percent of people worldwide still use traditional systems. It is also common knowledge that the chemical components of plants have their origins in allopathic medications. The importance of automated information extraction, analysis, and retrieve for medicinal plants has lately increased based on visual characteristic studies. This is due to the two primary problems with manual identification and processing of herbal medications, namely the lack of expertise and subjectivity present in the practitioners of Ayurveda. Therefore, effective computer software is required by biologists and practitioners of Ayurveda to automatically extract and analyze the key information from photographs of medicinal plants. This paper represents a review on medicinal plant identification through leaf images.
