Electric Vehicle Wireless Power Transfer System with Pick-Up Side Position Detection

This paper describes an electric vehicle wireless power transfer system with pick-up side position detection. The coupler designed includes magnetic integrated resonant coil, separate signal coils, and power coils. During the position detection phase, the resonant coil and secondary signal coil are reused to detect the misalignment of pick-up side on the x-axis and y-axis. By comparing the phase difference between the induction voltage of the resonant coil and the inverter output voltage, the x-axis misalignment can be determined. Experimental verification shows that detection within the range of y-axis [−200,200] mm and x-axis [−150,150] mm misalignment is achievable. During the system charging phase, the designed EV-WPT system meets the requirements of output power 10.92 kW, transmission efficiency 94.6%, and signal transmission rate of 24.8 Mbps at a transmission distance of 16 cm.
