Privacy Preservation of Medical Records using AI Based Watermarking

The evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare is bringing about a significant transformation across the industry. Among them Electronic Health Records (EHR) has played a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of healthcare services. It facilitates access to patient data, optimize operational processes, and improved communication among healthcare professionals. However, it’s important to note that that the confidentiality of EHRs become even more critical when sharing reports with others. So, implementing watermarking can further secure this process, adding an extra layer of protection to sensitive information. But traditional watermarking modifies the individual pixels in a straight forward manner. So, in this article, an AI based watermarking is proposed using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) which will learns to manipulate features and relationships between pixels in a way that effectively embeds EHR into the features of cover image, leading to creation of a watermarked image which resembles the cover image and also ensures a seamless extraction process by efficiently retrieving the EHR from watermarked image. The high MSE, SSIM, PSNR values of proposed model compared to existing models strengthens the effectiveness of embedding and extraction of EHR, thereby markedly, reinforcing data security within the healthcare domain.
