Design and Verification of AMBA AXI Protocol

Amidst the modern technological landscape, microelectronics has assumed unparalleled significance in individuals' daily lives. The heightened demand for these components, coupled with their limited availability, imposes constraints on production timelines and elevates final product failure rates. Consequently, there is a critical need for methodologies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of hardware design and verification, where the latter has become a predominant cost in the overall design process. Addressing this challenge, the Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA) emerges as an open-standard on-chip interface interconnect. Its standardized signal bus architecture facilitates the seamless interconnection of various modules within a system, giving rise to the system-on-a-chip (SoC) design methodology. Despite the challenges associated with verifying on-chip bus protocols, this project successfully designs the AXI protocol using Verilog HDL, establishing a robust verification methodology with System Verilog (SV). The verification process attains success in validating the AMBAAXI Protocol, specifically in Write and Read Operations, incorporating an incremental burst feature. This achievement is supported by a scalable test bench architecture, defining a standard set of rules for effective communication within the System on Chip (SoC), ensuring the reliability and efficiency of microelectronic systems.
