Secure eKYC: Blockchain Integration with Facial Recognition and FASNet-Based Anti-Spoofing Mechanism

The banking sector, a cornerstone of our society, witnesses a staggering volume of digital transactions annually, with approximately 8,804 crore transactions valued at 3,021 lakh crore Rupees [1] occurring in India. Given this significance, financial institutions, particularly banks, play a crucial role and are among the most frequently utilized institutions. Know Your Customer (KY C) processes within banks are integral for storing, verifying, and validating user details. However, the landscape is evolving with electronic KY C (eKY C). Addressing the need for a third-party KYC system, our project proposes a decen-tralized blockchain-based solution, ensuring tamper-proof data storage akin to legacy KY C systems. In response to biometric vulnerabilities, especially face recognition, our project integrates a Liveness Attack Detection (LAD) approach, contributing to the evolution of KYC processes by combining blockchain-based KYC with advanced biometric security measures for secure identity validation in financial transactions.
