AI-Enhanced Personal Care Robot Assistant for Hospital Medication Delivery

In recent times, the role of robotics in healthcare has emerged as a focal point of medical research, especially in the realm of disease management and control. The primary objective of this research is to protect medical staff and doctors, who play a critical role in patient care, from the hazards associated with infectious diseases by reducing direct human interaction within hospital settings, focusing on essential tasks such as cleaning, sterilization, and operational support. This personal care robot navigation system, designed for hospital environments, features a core robotic vehicle with 4-wheel drive for effortless navigation. The proposed system uses a dual-stage facial recognition process, initial detection by HAAR Cascade Classifier for rapid face detection, followed by the Local Binary Patterns Histograms (LBPH) method for face recognition ensures a high level of accuracy in patient identification. The key functionalities of this robotic assistant include live video surveillance via a camera module, and health monitoring facilitated by non-invasive sensors capable of measuring temperature, heartbeat, and oxygen levels. The system also features a critical safety feature—an emergency switch for immediate halting, an LCD display for interaction, voice output for auditory communication, and even a sprinkler mechanism for sanitation purposes. By leveraging remote control through a mobile application and internet connectivity, this robot presents a leap forward in intelligent healthcare automation, ensuring the efficiency of medical operations in the face of infectious disease challenges.
