Study on Normal Bending Characteristics of Aluminium-Stabilized Stacked HTS Tape Cable for CEPC Detector Magnet

The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a significant international scientific facility proposed by the Chinese particle physics community in 2012, aimed at conducting detailed measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson. The latest conceptual design of the CEPC detector magnet introduced a novel Aluminum-stabilized Stacked HTS Tape Cable (ASTC). The minimum bending radius of the cable needs to be defined to provide a reference for the compact arrangement of current input and output positions. In this paper, a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used to analyse the normal strain of different bending radii of ASTC. Experimental tests and calculation were conducted to verify the accuracy of the simulation results for critical current under different bending radii. The relationship between normal strain and critical current was obtained, showing that when the normal strain exceeds 0.004, a noticeable decrement occurs.
