Photovoltaic Microgrid Simulation Based on Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation Software

As the modern power industry expands, environmental pollution and resource demand also increase. Photovoltaic power generation technology stands out among other renewable energy sources due to its eco-friendliness and ease of utilization. However, when photovoltaic systems are integrated into the grid, a challenge arises: the inability to compensate for inductive reactive power, which can lead to voltage dips and impact the stability of the power grid. To address this issue, this study proposes the installation of a reactive power compensation device in the simulation design. Initially, the optimal capacity of the Static Var Compensator (SVC) is determined. Subsequently, the SVC's capacitor switching is controlled using both manual methods and a genetic algorithm, ensuring that the power factor meets the grid's stringent requirements upon interconnection. Furthermore, an energy storage battery is integrated into the simulation design to enhance the reliability and economic efficiency of power supply. This innovative solution offers dual advantages: rapid reactive power compensation and guaranteed power supply reliability. Its implementation is validated on the Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) platform, demonstrating its feasibility and potential for widespread application in modern power systems.
