Maximizing the Transport Capacity of Optical Multi-Band WDM Systems Through Power Optimization

We investigate the impact of five power allocation methods on the physical layer performance of an optical multiband system and identify the one that maximizes the transport capacity. Using this method, a capacity increase of up to 21% can be attained. This capacity increase can be directly translated into a 10.4% reduction of optical transceivers over the entire network. © 2024 The Author(s)
