Societal Elements that Impact the Performance of Women Entrepreneurs in Tier-II Cities: A Study of Rohilkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh

Globally women entrepreneurship is being increasingly accepted as one of the most laten and underestimated source of economic growth. Research on women entrepreneurs has long been understudied, both globally and in India. The current global economic crisis has drawn attention from researchers to women entrepreneurs and demonstrated their significance as economic agents. The level of an entrepreneur's society influences their level of entrepreneurial activity to some extent. This study is aimed to explore the impact of societal variable on entrepreneurship sprit among women in Tier II cities of Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Research results indicate that family support, financial concerns and lack of infrastructure are the key obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs. Study results revealed Women entrepreneurship spirit can be impacted by societal factors. Demographic variable (education and work experience) significantly impacts the societal variables that affect the spirit of women entrepreneurship while age is an insignificant demographical variables that impact the societal variables affecting spirit of women entrepreneurship.
