A Low-Cost ADALM2000 Hybrid Learning Platform for the Analog Integrated Circuits Curricula

The Low-cost ADALM2000 hybrid learning platform, designed for analog integrated circuits, leverages the universal learning platform base station for DC supplies, the analog IC application board for adaptable analog functions, and the ADALM2000 active learning module for generating and measuring analog signals. In this paper, we design and assess the feasibility of such scalable learning platform when used in a hybrid learning environment. A robust analog IC application reconfigurable board is proposed as a primary tool to acquaint students with the fundamental aspects of Operational Amplifiers applications and functionality, used in signal conditioning applications. Furthermore, testbench analyses are employed to identify the appropriate reconfiguration for the test setup, requisite equipment, user interface, and network access strategies, ensuring a seamless transition between on-site and remote operation. The utilization of the analog integrated circuits application board together with the compact all-in-one ADALM2000 module brings a significant cost reduction, compared with the bench equipment approach. Scaling the number of testbenches is facilitated by the modular design and reusability of the base station, control, and measurement system. Constant adaptation of the curriculum is provisioned by modular design and open-source code, future application being developed with ease, while aligning with the highest STEM education standards for the university e-Iearning facilities.
