Optimization of Coreless High Temperature Superconducting Linear Synchronous Motor

In this paper, a double-side coreless superconducting linear synchronous motor (CSCLSM) for electromagnetic ejection is designed, simulated and optimized. Due to the strong magnetic field characteristics of superconducting magnets, the motor has a greater magnetic load and thrust density than conventional motors. The main dimensions were determined referring to the design method of traditional rotating motors and the design of the superconducting magnet was further completed according to the magnetic load and parameters of the selected high temperature superconducting (HTS) material. The performance parameters of the motor were analyzed by finite element simulation and the rationality of the design process is verified. The influence of different structural parameters of the motor including the pole pitch and the inner diameter of the superconducting magnet on the motor performance was studied. Finally, the optimization scheme of the CSCLSM was given according to the analysis results.
