Non Contact Vital Signs Monitoring for a Non Stationnary Target Using UWB Sensor

Ultra Wide Band (UWB) radar has some interesting advantages, such as its high penetration and high resolution which can directly estimate the vibrations of vital signal from a distance through the human chest. This article has focused on estimating vital signs in particular breathing and heart rate of a non-stationnary target using UWB radar. The radar is simulated using MATLAB-Simulink with a central frequency of 2 GHz. The methodology involves using robust principal component analy- sis (RPCA) with an inexact augmented Lagrangian multiplier (IALM) process to effectively remove echo noise. In order to obtain respiratory and heart rate indicators, the Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) algorithm is utilized. In addition, the Fourier transform is applied to obtain frequency information.
