DigSiNet: Using Multiple Digital Twins to Provide Rhythmic Network Consistency

While digital twins have been presented for several use-cases like industrial environments, their use for network management still holds challenges to be addressed. The paper presents a proof of concept to create multiple digital twin network topologies using Containerlab as realistic network emulator. As an example, the implementation uses AFLnet to fuzz an RTSP server as soon as corresponding configuration changes are detected. Real-time data is exchanged and processed between the real network and the siblings. Information from multiple siblings is combined to use individual strengths of the different environments they run in. Benefits and examples for real-world use-cases, e.g., continuous integration and security tests are discussed. The implementation is provided as open source.
