Behavioral Impact of Electric Vehicle integration: Optimizing Home Energy Management Systems

Despite enhancing the overall quality of life, some devices face drawbacks such as environmental concerns and increased energy expenses. As a modern addition to residential power tools, a home-connected Electric Vehicle (EV) has the capacity to release energy and supply power to the household. This paper investigates the behavioral impact of electric vehicle (BIOEV) integration in smart homes, addressing the challenges and contributions within residential energy management systems. As EV adoption grows, their role in exacerbating peak demand issues is explored. The study proposes an innovative optimization framework for managing EV charging, leveraging demand response programs. Three distinct customer cases are considered, each representing diverse behavioral patterns. The results demonstrate tailored strategies for energy optimization, emphasizing the need for flexible and adaptive approaches. The paper contributes insights into efficient EV charging, load shifting, and the overall enhancement of smart homes in the context of sustainable energy management.
