Optimized Two-Stage & Two-phase 48V-1V DC-DC Converter with Large Load Current up to 100A

This paper introduces a 48V-1V Two-Phase DC-DC Converter based on two-stage Buck topology (TPTS) with widely extended duty cycle and load range. In this topology, two stage cascaded Buck multi-parallel structure are used to achieve high conversion ratio and lower conduction losses. Meanwhile, two-phase structure provides dual-inductor output, effectively decreasing ripple of output current in heavy-load condition. After optimization of switching scheme and key parameters, a prototype featuring 48V-to-1V transfer and with up to 100A output current is verified by simulation with commercial models of both GaN power switches and Si power MOSFETs.
