DigComp as a reference framework for skills and competencies in digital environments

DigComp was created by the European Commission as a reference framework for skills and competencies necessary to be competitive in digital environments and this study aims to analyze whether or not it is really being used. To do this, this study makes a bibliometric analysis of DigComp in Scopus, one of the main scientific databases, in order to find out what the impact of this tool is in the scientific world and where it is being produced, which shows if is actually being used or not. This analysis is carried out with the Bibliometrix tool and the documents that are analyzed are those published in this database until 2022, thereby demonstrating that DigComp is consolidating as a reference framework since its use is expanding at a good pace in the scientific world and not only within Europe, but it is also coming to be used outside of Europe.
