Incident angle insensitive dual-band epsilon-shaped metamaterial absorber for K-band and Ka-band applications

This paper presents an epsilon-shaped metamaterial absorber for K-band and Ka-band applications. The operating frequency range is 20.193 GHz and 30.087 GHz, with excellent absorbance of 99.5% and 99.9% for both frequencies. Also, the quality factor is high for both frequencies, 155.33 and 527.84, respectively. The structure size is minimal, 10×10 mm
²
and the design is constructed on an FR4 substrate using the simulation software CST Microwave Studio. Furthermore, this proposed absorber is compared with other existing work and this absorber is quite impressive for its good absorption characteristics. Its unique features, such as small size, excellent absorption, and high-quality factor, make it appropriate for using K-band and Ka-band applications, such as radar, satellite and mobile communication systems.
