Abstract:
In this paper, a three-phase, 31-level asymmetric, multilevel utility interactive inverter designed for renewable energy applications is presented. This inverter topology, designed with only 10 IGBT switches, features a lower number of switches compared to other 31-level inverters. A comprehensive examination of multilevel carrier sinusoidal PWM technique using phase opposition disposition (POD) is provided in this paper. A 3-phase solar powered grid connected inverter based on 31-level asymmetric Multilevel Inverter (MLI) is designed and its implementation is substantiated with PSIM® simulator. The control algorithm of the grid connected inverter is implemented using C language such that the control section code can be embedded directly as in the case of Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.
