Assessing the Relationship between Bodily Biological Parameters and Cardiac States of Different Subjects

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the vital causes of premature fatality worldwide, influenced by a person’s daily lifestyle, eating habits, body structure, etc. In this paper, the heart conditions of four different subjects were correlated with various bodily biological parameters, such as bioelectrical impedance (BI), body mass index (BMI), extracellular water (ECW), intracellular water (ICW), total body water (TBW), and fat-free mass (FFM), measured by bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (BIS) in the laboratory. The subjects were selected through interviews and their hearts’ rhythmic conditions were explored initially by means of their electrocardiogram (ECG) reports. Before conducting the experiments their written consent was taken. Critical observations on those measured parameters revealed the underlying causes of sinus arrhythmia and sinus tachycardia of the respective subjects. The findings in ECG reports of the subjects with anomalies in cardiac states are strongly correlated with the measured bodily parameters as stated above. For instance, using the measured values of ICW, ECW, ECW/TBW, and TBW/FFM of a subject are discussed to link the conditions of hyperkalemia, hypokalemia, left ventricular hypertrophy, and right atrial enlargement that may lead to sinus arrhythmia and sinus tachycardia. Furthermore, the condition of sinus arrhythmia is explained because of excess BMI which is further demonstrated by the bioelectrical impedance (BI) curve and Cole-Cole plot. It is envisaged that these findings will aid in discovering underlying reasons for heart disease in a more minute way from the bodily parameters of a patient.
