This chapter explores the steady‐state frequency domain impedance of series and parallel RLC combinations, including intuition on the impedance, resonance, and circuit response minima and maxima. The impedances of series and parallel RLC combinations provide insight to the behavior of RLC circuits and resonance. The chapter explains the formula for the impedance and resonant frequency of the series RLC combination. It explores second‐order sinusoidal steady‐state frequency response, including expressions for magnitude and phase. The chapter simulates the magnitude and phase of the series RLC transfer function. The quality factor of a resonant circuit or electromagnetic cavity structure is the amount of energy stored per cycle of sinusoidal signal, in comparison to the amount of energy lost or dissipated per cycle. In RLC circuits, both bandwidth and quality factor relate to energy dissipated in resistors.
