Analysis of the DC-DC Converter Characteristics for Cost Effective Low Voltage Battery Storage System

This work provides an overview of the basic concept designs for cost effective battery storage system (BSS). The main specific of proposed BSS is utilization of commonly available recycled laptop batteries, while a standard configuration (3S - 3 batteries in series) is considered. Technical solution focuses on the efficiency performance optimization of the system at all. Because of the low level of the ESS voltage and dealing with the efficiency maximization of low-power solar cell, the buck-boost topology is evaluated as a possible solution. Regarding previous mentioned facts, the attention was given on the investigation of the proper control of the converter, while the main aim was to reduce self-consumption of the power circuit, thus increasing system efficiency.
