Obstacle Detection System for Personal Mobility Vehicle

Personal mobility vehicle (PMV) is becoming more and more accessible and in demand among residents of large cities. This type of transport has shown the most active growth in popularity. Due to the availability of PMV to almost everyone and the relatively small experience of PMV management among the majority of the population, people with a lack of necessary management skills and a low level of responsibility often have access to the use of PMV. The result is various incidents and accidents involving PMV. This article presents one of the solutions to reduce accidents involving personal mobility vehicles by implementing an automated collision avoidance system. The developed device is built-in and is intended for additional equipment of personal mobility equipment. The body of the device is made of ABS plastic, it contains the necessary equipment for information processing and a set of sensors. Information about obstacles and the surrounding environment is collected using lidars and ultrasonic distance sensors. This combination will provide the most complete picture for further analysis and ensure smooth operation of the device. The device is weatherproof and protected against minor physical impacts.
