GeoTagging based Attendance System using Google Maps API

Accurate attendance is vital for organizational efficiency, resource management, and productivity. This paper presents an attendance tracking system designed to meet the needs of modern remote work scenarios, accommodating employees who work away from the company’s central location. Conventional attendance tracking methods often fall short for remote employees across various industries, including sales representatives, service technicians, consultants, delivery personnel, and field researchers, among others, who travel to multiple locations during their work shifts. To address these kind of challenges faced by these remote employees and manage attendance tracking with precision, this system uses the capabilities of the Google Maps API. For remote workers within a specified radius from the company’s headquarters, the system implements geotagging using the Google Maps API, where the company’s central location along with its other branch locations is pinned and stored. This authorizes these employees to conveniently log their attendance by punching in or out upon entering or leaving the designated geographical boundary. This system performs real-time calculations of the distance covered from the pinned location and duration based on the time-stamps recorded during entry and exit from the pinned area. The system generates accurate attendance records for remote employees simply avoiding the necessity for physical attendance reporting at the office by combining GPS location data with precise time tracking. The Geo-Tagging Based Attendance System enhances convenience and accuracy in attendance tracking system. Moreover, it increases the efficiency and accountability among remote workers across various industries, providing a solution for companies managing remote employees in today’s digital work environments. In this paper, the Geo Tagging-based Attendance System using the Google Maps API discusses the web based attendance system that generates the attendance sheet of the employee with the punch-in and punch-out times. And also it stores the attendance records in Excel format for the branch that is selected for the document purpose.
